Days at work can be packed with activity, meetings, people stopping in to see you, hundreds of emails, phone calls, and messages, and one project after another. Without self-care and self-love stress can creep into your life during and after the workday. Stress is something that is coped with, but not eliminated. When you learn how to decompress from a stressful day, your life improves. Here are a variety of tips so you can decompress after a stressful day at work.

Deep breathing enables more air to flow into your body and can help calm your nerves, reducing stress and anxiety. It can also help you improve your attention span and lower pain levels. Try counting to 10 as you let out your breath. Feel the tension and stress flowing out of you with your breath. Repeat 3-10 times, as necessary.

Walking is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health. Not only does walking put distance between you and your stress, but it also allows you to think about your stress and put it into perspective.

Self-massage is another great relaxation technique. Tense up and then relax each muscle in your body, one at a time, starting from your toes up to your head. Try massaging your shoulders, neck, head, lower back with your hands or a tennis ball

Get Outside to connect with nature and, take in the beauty around you. Standing in the sunlight and allowing the sun to shine on your skin this not only feels good but uplifts your mood and re-energizes your body. While you’re there, stretch, yawn, take some deep breaths and enjoy.

Meditate by sitting somewhere quiet, close your eyes, relax, and focus on your breathing. Try to concentrate on it coming into your body, and then going out.

Spread and receive love for yourself and your loved ones around you. Spend time with your family and be present with them, forgetting about the world and work around you. Be kind to yourself and do things that bring you joy. Spread that joy to others in the form of a smile or kind gesture. And remember, it’s GOOD to FEEL GOOD!
